Internet Security And Antivirus – Warning With Your Email

A virus is a malicious program and we all try to avoid getting a virus from other people because it can be a serious threat to your personal security. We have to do what we can to avoid virus attacks on our computers. Since it is impossible to stop viruses by hand (as other security threats) you should buy and install a good antivirus software and we recommend Panda because it helps to stop viruses, spyware, comes with an advanced firewall solution and for a limited time you have a $10 discount on the product:

These days viruses are usually delivered by email which jumps into your computer system right after you open them. You in turn can send and email to another person and send your unknown virus to the other person without even noticing, spreading the virus to others unknowingly and damaging your reputation among not so smart computer users that will think you send it on purpose.

Every time we go to check our emails, we have to think “virus” as we go about the process of opening and reading emails in our inbox. We are inclined to simply point and click taking a real risk each time we do this. So, before clicking to open the email, slide your mouse pointer gently across the heading and look at the return address. If, the IP address you see looks like this (“192.146.32.64″) or any number combination then do not open. Delete and move on.

An IP address without an official domain name is often an email with a virus attached or some site sending you a cookie or some malicious software which could harm your computer. If a domain name such as (www.example.com”) is what you see, then you have to decide if this is a legitimate site. If you are not comfortable about opening even an email that includes a domain name, then just delete it. If you open a site accidentally close your browser immediately and then reopen your browser, the email will be gone.

Preventing spam is one of the best ways to be proactive in order to be secure on the Internet and we offer an email course in our website that will help you to almost reduce spam completely without losing any email (you can find out course at the bottom or at the right of your screen).

Another concern regarding email is a site which asks you to download an attached file. You should never download things from untrusted sources and always be suspicious if anybody ask you to download something. Generally PDF files are save to download, but not always Microsoft Word documents, Powerpoint presentation or Excel spreadsheets as they can include macros which are programs. Exe files(programs) .src files (screen savers) .pif files (special “macro”) are the most dagerous of all. Be very cautious about downloading screensaver since many of them include software in the form of spyware or viruses within them.

Never send a password or other private information to a site asking for information by way of an email. Your bank, Microsoft, Mozilla, Google, Yahoo and other legitimate sites with whom you do business will never send an email requesting personal information. A forgery site can look very much like a legitimate site, but when asking for personal information you can be pretty certain it is a forgery site and not the real thing. If you open and download the attachment it may contain a virus or worse. So close your browser to dump the message and then reopen your browser. You can simply delete the message and its attachment, but it is always a good idea to close your browser.
